¡¡¡¡From July,19th to July,25th, 2009 Chinese Language Summer Camp for 63 UK teachers and students was successfully held in Xi¡¯an Bodi School under the delegations of Hanban and Shaanxi Education Department. The 9 teachers and 54 students who went to Shaanxi province came from the following schools: Upton-by-Chester, Royal Grammer, Djanogly, ST Georges and Pilton. Through 7 days¡¯ systematic and professional learning, all campers passed the Chinese language test and got their course-completion certificates. ¡¡¡¡In order to make UK teachers and students know Chinese culture and Shaanxi culture better, a course on culture and custom was carried out, which interested UK friends £é£î Shaanxi province¡¯s historic relics, snacks, customs, traditions, etc. UK teachers and students also attended the courses on Chinese calligraphy, ink and wash painting , music (They learned a well-knowen folksong ¨C jasmine)and shadow boxing. The campers visited Terra-cotter Warriors¡¯ Museum, Shaanxi Historic Museum, Foutain Display on the Northern Square of Dayan Pagoda, Xi¡¯an City Wall, and so on. ¡¡¡¡Simultaneously, the students from Bodi international class jonined the reception team voluntarily. They spent 7 unforgetable days with the UK students, making UK friends, expanding their field of vision, improving their English listening and speaking abilities and schooling their capabilities on organizing and leadership. During 7 days¡¯ communication, students from both countries knew each other better and became friends quickly. ¡¡¡¡On the last day of the Summer Camp, a simple but happy closing ceremony was held. UK students sang a Chinese song and spoke several fluent sentences in Chinese. These are the results of good teaching and good learning. Both UK and Chinese students gave some splendid performaces. After that, the students said goodbyes to each other with unwillingly. UK teachers and students were satisfied with this Summer Camp and experienced a lot of interesting things. They gave their thanks to the camp organizers and teachers; some students said that they would come to China again and visit Bodi School again. ¡¡¡¡We believe that the campers will share their wonderful experiences in China with their families and friends and become the transmitting envoys of Chinese and UK cultures.
