An American group of the Global Education Policy Fellowship Program, led by Professor Robert J. Monson of Columbia University and Professor Daniel W. Schultz of Michigan State University, including scholars from Harvard University, Stanford University, Columbia University,California University at Berkeley, Penn University, Michigan University, Wisconsin University and some famous research institutes, visited Bodi School on October 27 , 2011. The American guests were warmly welcomed by Principal Shizhong Zhou, Principal Xiaopeng Wang and other administrators of Bodi School. At the welcoming ceremony, Principal Zhou presented to the American colleagues the basic information of Chinese education, an overview of Bodi School, and especially Bodi¡¯s international education exchange and cooperation. Then, Professor Schultz made a speech, expressing American colleagues¡¯ strong interest in learning about China¡¯s educational experience as well as in discussing education policies with their Chinese colleagues. After the welcoming ceremony, the American guests visited the host school¡¯s senior high class, junior high class, elementary class, NASAP class and international students¡¯ Chinese class, and also discussed with the Chinese instructors about teaching methodology and other issues. Then, the guests toured the school¡¯s natatorium, table tennis club, students¡¯ cafeteria and other facilities, which left them a very deep impression. At the meeting that followed, Principal Wang first made a presentation on Bodi School¡¯s experience in high and elementary school education in answer to the questions interested by the American education policy researchers. Then£¬Principal Zhou presented a list of main topics in education and shared with the American colleagues his understanding of these important topics in education with a reference to China¡¯s educational practice. The two principals¡¯ presentation led to an in-depth discussion by both sides, and an agreement on the future bilateral cooperation in educational exchange and policy research. At the end of the meeting, both sides presented gifts to each other and expressed the wish to collaborate more closely and more fruitfully. The Global Education Policy Fellowship Program (GEPFP) is an American educational research program, designed to provide experienced education policy leaders and administrators (GEPFP Senior Fellows) with the opportunity to study education policy in the Age of Globalization by investigating education development challenges in economically developed and developing countries.
